Reveal yourself. Take the challenge. Embrace the change.
After my 85 year old father and 96 year old aunt passed away from, among other things, congestive heart failure, I got a break from care-giving and realized it was time for me to address my own health. I am 57 years old and work full time in a high-stress profession. Though I was not really that far from my ideal weight, I decided that I was not as fit or as strong as I wanted to be. I had tried other programs, such as water aerobics and yoga, but I was looking for something different. I decided to sample the LGN Boot Camp on a trial basis for a couple of weeks in February 2011. I loved it immediately, even though I could barely walk after the first class. It felt like a great fit for me. So I decided to join Anytime Fitness and to sign up for Boot Camp for a year. But first, during a personal training session, we assessed what I could do. We found I could hold a plank position for only a short while, and after doing that, I could not even do one push-up! It just wasn't happening. My arms were like noodles! I guess I was more out of shape than I thought. So I began to attend Boot Camp regularly. I almost always attend all four classes per week and every other Saturday, except when I am out of town (and I missed the whole month of August while out of town, and the whole month of September to allow six broken ribs to heal -- but that's another story.) I really miss Boot Camp when I am unable to be there. My goals are to increase my strength and endurance, and to promote adequate bone density (and if I lose a few more pounds and lower my body fat percentage, I'll be pleased.) Now, almost a year later, I can really feel a difference. I can run longer and faster, I can hold the plank position longer, and at my last assessment I did 30 push-ups in a row (maybe that's not a lot, but remember I started out at zero.) The best benefit is how good I feel throughout the whole day after completing the morning class. But it is the fun, high-energy workouts, the welcoming and encouraging attitudes of the other Boot Campers and the sensitive, knowledgeable and enthusiastic trainers at the Roseville location that keep me coming back.
